2020 - April Performance
The lucky rabbits foot has paid big dividends in April. Compared to the broader S&P market the portfolio gained 43% compared to 12% - so that was nice.
Cleaning up after the kid in the candy store
Most of these are companies I would never buy in normal times. But I do know that over the years, the opportunistic snapping up of bargains and then thinning them as the market bounces - has consistently generated profits for me. Sometimes the market drops again and I get to do it all over again.
Portfolio Prune
I used my margin account to purchase during the recent dip. Since the market has been up a few days - I took the opportunity to sell some non-core holdings.
Banking on the Paycheck Protection Program
Last week I purchased a basket of bank stocks because I thought the market was underestimating the benefit to the banks from the Federal Government's Paycheck Protection Program.
